The Hospital Club and Sedition are pleased to present WOMEN IN DIGITAL an exhibition of works by female artists who are leading the way in innovations in art and technology. The exhibition presents a group of pioneering artists working to employ diverse technologies to create their work. From video and animation to 3D modelling and digital illustration to software and net art, the works reflect some of the most innovative practices in the landscape of contemporary art. The exhibition features internationally renowned artists, including:  LIA (Austria), FIELD (UK), Sophie Kahn (UK/AU), Sara Ludy (US), Fang Lu (China), Katie Torn (US), Claudia Hart (US), Sougwen Chung (US/Canada), Marion Tampon-Lajarriette (Switzerland), and new to Sedition artist Shu Lea Cheang (US/France).

Presented on the latest curved OLED and ULTRA HD4K screens from global technology brand LG, Women In Digital celebrates the screen as a medium to display and enjoy artworks. Women In Digital will be unveiled at London’s hub for the Creative Industries – The Hospital Club – on 16th October at a Private View, whilst the show will continue from the 17th – 19th October.

We’ll also be hosting a special talk and exhibition tour on Saturday 18th October from 3-5pm with the artists from the exhibition including Claudia Hart, associate professor, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Vera-Maria Glahn, managing director, FIELD, as well as, Louise Shannon, curator of digital, V&A and Nora O’ Murchú, media art curator, designer and researcher.

Sedition donates artworks to the BE INSPIRED – Contemporary Art Auction with proceeds benefitting The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts who are raising vital funds for children with life-limiting illnesses. Sedition has donated works by Damien Hirst (valued at £500) and Elmgreen & Dragset (valued at £1000), which will be auctioned online on Paddle 8 17th September- 1st October culminating in a live auction on Wednesday 1st October at the Saatchi Gallery, London. A selection of Sedition Gift Cards for works by world renowned contemporary artists will also be offered as prizes for the raffle at the live auction.

Every piece sold in in the auction, will allow more children to take part in Children & the Arts’ programmes, with a particular emphasis on the Start Hospices programme, which enables children with a life limiting illness to enjoy special organised family days out at local galleries, museums and theatres; bringing families together away from  their usual day-to-day routine of clinical care and support at their local hospice.

The BE INSPIRED Auction is being hosted by leading independent Private Investment Office, Floreat Group. Floreat Group will curate a collection of up to 100 pieces of art for the online auction. The top 10 lots will go into the live auction at the Saatchi Gallery where online bidders will be given the opportunity to bid in the live auction by phone. The remaining lots in the online auction will continue on the evening and iPads will be circulated amongst the guests.

Sedition’s Head of Programmes, Ashley Wong will be mentoring at the event alongside other industry experts at the first European Startup Weekend Art which will be held in London, on the 3rd, 4th and 5th October 2014. Sedition is presenting works by world renowned contemporary artists at this years’ Nuit Blanche Video, a late night of video art displayed in the windows of galleries and shops across West London. Focusing on the moving image, Nuit Blanche Video takes a look at ‘The World We Live In’ through the eyes of Contemporary Artists working in the medium of film/video. The artworks are screened in the windows of the West End, enabling viewers to discover a new side to the city. Sedition are excited to be involved in the second years Nuit Blanche Video art map.

This year the event will be taking place Saturday 20 September from 7pm–7am. Sedition will be presenting works in four locations including Le Méridien Hotel, Lanvin Womenswear, Lanvin Menswear, and Bonhams featuring works by Tracey Emin, Mat Collishaw, Elmgreen and Dragset, and Isaac Julien.
