Sedition Guide to FIAC 2016, Paris

This week, Paris is enlivened with art as the FIAC and satellite events (including Paris Internationale, Asia Now Paris, Outsider Art Fair and YIA) come to the French capital. To help you navigate the fairs, we’ve curated a selection of exhibitions now taking place across the city. View works by your favourite artists from Sedition presenting works in an around FIAC 2016.

Artists at FIAC

Lawrence Weiner is exhibiting work with three galleries at the fair. With Galerie 8 + 4 his embroidered work Form of Difficulty is shown in a group exhibition featuring works by Véra Molnar, Anne & Patrick Poirier and Pierrette Bloch. Meanwhile, represented by Marian Goodman and Alfonse Artiaco, the artist presents a large scale floor and wall based work On The Up, On The Above Up, On The Below Up outside the Petit Palais.

The Documentary: Geocentric Puncture, Guan Xiao 2014

 

Guan Xiao presents a number of sculptural works, installations and digital prints at Kraupa-Tuscany Zeidler, one of ten galleries exhibiting as part of the La Fayette sector in the Grand Palais.

Ron Arad’s Armadillo Tea Pavillion (2016) is among outdoor sculptural works presented at the Jardin des Tuileries as part of the Tuileries sector. His work features alongside that of Alexander Calder, Gloria Friedmann and Jean Nouvel and is exhibited by Revolution Precrafted.

Anatomy of an Angel, Damien Hirst, 2008

 

Damien Hirst presents Anatomy of an Angel (2008) with White Cube at the Petit Palais. The work, carved in Italian Carrara marble, is a depiction of an angel in a classical style inspired by L’Hirondelle Alfred Boucher (1920). The skin of the angel is torn, revealing glimpses of the human anatomy as depicted and dissected in medical practice.

While in Paris for FIAC, be sure to catch GOTHAM, Jonathan Monaghan’s current solo exhibition at Galerie 2248m2. The exhibition runs until 29 October and presents sculpture, video and installation works which explore the digital transformation of materiality in relation to concepts of wealth and prestige.

Back to the End of the Beginning of the End, Again – Jake and Dinos Chapman

 

Amalia Ulman’s solo exhibition, Reputation, is presented at New Galerie in the Marais from 20 October to 20 December. Those in Paris for FIAC might also like to head to London for Ulman’s current exhibition Labour Dance at Arcadia Missa. Kamel Mennour presents an exhibition of installation works by Jake and Dinos Chapman in two separate Paris locations. Back to the End of the Beginning of the End, Again is on display both at the gallery’s main Paris location on the rue Saint-André des arts from 14 October to 26 November, and at 28 avenue Matignon from 20 October to 26 November 2016.
